Free Lamplighter Books!!

I was searching Amazon's Kindle store for some free books today, and I stumbled across some of the Lamplighter books. This is a GREAT way to be able to read them without making the investment in the books.
  1. Download Kindle for PC (or Mac, or Blackberry, or Droid, or whatever) if you don't have an actual Kindle. (click here, the options are in the third row of graphics)
  2. They have the following books:
Right now, they are all free!!!  However, pricing on Amazon changes ALL the time, so you might want to grab them now.

I also requested that they make the rest of the series available on Kindle as well...  These are the other titles. Search for them, and you can "request the publisher make it available on Kindle".
  • Titus: A Comrade of the Cross
  • The Pillar of Fire
  • True Stories of Great Americans for Young Americans
  • Shipwrecked, But Not Lost
  • Joel: A Boy of Galilee
  • The Boys of Grit series
  • The Children of Cloverley

The more people that request them, the more likely they are to make them available on Kindle!

A Labor Of Love!!

I recently was picked to host a Discover You CAN House Party.  It was so much fun!  We didn't have a lot of people, but we did make some yummy strawberry jam!!
I've been excited about this "Labor of Love" for a while.  We have been doing Bountiful Baskets for several weeks now, and recently there have been a lot of peppers, onions etc.  And I'm insanely allergic to all peppers and onions.  Just touching peppers gives me a migraine.  So, I purchased the "Mexican" pack with this past week's Bountiful Basket to make a yummy treat for my Non Allergic husband :)
It contained all kinds of stuff I had never seen, so after identifying it all, I got started.
 7 cups Tomatoes
3 cloves Garlic
1/4 cup Cilantro
1 cup Green Onions
2 Cups cucumbers

 1 Tbsp Marjoram
1/2 Cup Vinegar

1/2 Cup Jalapeno Peppers
1/2 Cup Anaheim Peppers

 2 cups Banana Peppers
A Few Sweet Baby Bell Peppers for color

  Stir it all up

Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes
Fill jars, leaving 1/2 in at top, cover with lid and band, and tighten.
Place in water bath for 20 minutes (water bath=boiling water, at least 1" above rim of jars)
First three jars, done and cooling
They have to sit for 12 hours! :(
My poor hubby!
All 5 jars of salsa!!  Woo hoo!

I LOVE that June is National Dairy Month!

Why?
Because all of this cost $10.40!!!
32 multipacks of yogurt, and 8 gallons of milk!

Can you tell who the milk drinker is in our family?

Is It So Wrong?

My surprise visitor is arriving in town today, so I've been cleaning my home for what seems like hours!!  It's really amazing what the prospect of seeing someone you haven't seen in years will do to your motivation!!  I should have people come in all the time ;).

But do you know what makes me really happy?  It's not the spotless kitchen, or the will be spotless by the time I go to bed living room... Nope, it's a pile of expired coupons on the floor!!  And do you know what they are doing on the floor?  They are NOT being in my binder!!!  WOO HOO!!!
For the first time in probably 8 weeks, my coupon binder will SHUT!!  And do you see that beautiful gap at the bottom?  That means there is MORE ROOM to put coupons inserts in!!  WAHOOO!!

I'll admit it, I've felt like kind of a dork ever since Extreme Couponing came on the air.  I get all kinds of funny looks, I even get people who are a little huffy about it, assuming I'm "ripping" off the store.  I've been asked numerous times if I'm an "Extreme Couponer"  I always answer with yes, a FabuLESSly Frugal Extreme Couponer, which means I coupon the ethical, moral, and legal way.  However these last few weeks, with my binder spilling out everywhere, unable to even close, I have felt more and more eyes on me!!

At least now, when I go get my 32 yogurts, and my ~12 gallons of free milk, and pay only TAX, well... at least my binder will CLOSE!  I will however be wearing my FabuLESSly Frugal I <3 Coupons shirt, and carrying my I <3 Coupons re-usable grocery bags :)  So, if you see me, come say hi!  And if you have any questions about being an Extreme Couponer, please feel free to ask!

Oh... maybe I'll take my surprise visitor shopping with me while she's in town :) She's an avid yard saler, but I think I might just blow her mind with this one!

PS-to get a binder like mine, check out Stylin Binders.  You can either buy the completed thing, or if you are crafty, you can get just the pattern, and customize it yourself!

Summertime!!!

It seems like summer is finally here. And boy howdy has it started off with a bang! Abi has been sick for a couple of weeks, she's once again getting in new teeth. But we have managed to ward off ear infections on this go round! YAY! She just has a cold and is teething. Hard on mommies, but at least she'll get through it.  My best friend and Abi's god parents moved to Seattle this week, so that's been fairly rough (more on me than on Abi, I think).   Luckily Narcisa is coming back in just a few short weeks for a visit!!!  I can't wait!!

We've been spending lots of time at the park.  It's been great for Abi, and we've even made some friends.  She loves playing with the kids in the complex and they love her!!  She's growing my leaps and bounds.  Today she went down the slide and I didn't catch her, and she loved it!!  I'm so looking forward to the rest of the summer.  Hopefully she'll be feeling better soon, and we can play every day!  It's so cute to see her running around with all of her little friends.

I'm going to try to learn how to CAN on Saturday.  It should be interesting!  Hopefully the party will go smoothly and we'll all have some fun!

And, we have a secret visitor coming, and I can't wait to see her!!  God willing her drive goes smoothly, and she can surprise the people she wants to surprise!
